Suitable for candidates with a professional working knowledge of machine polishers, who wish to
refresh their technique with up to date tools, pads and compounds. Or those who want to learn
new techniques and perfect their polishing style across a range of machines.

By the end of the course, in addition to a knowledge of the techniques and skills required to perform minor to medium correction and enhancement details, you will have been shown and have attempted:

  • Understanding why we machine polish – surface defects, contamination identification and causes
  • Correct preparation steps to safely refine paintwork
  • Time management and safe working including job estimation and best working practices.
  • Understanding the difference between polishing to “finish” and to “re-finish”.
  • “Reading” the paint – what can be safely achieved and how to judge.
  • Defect identification, lighting and assessment.
  • Paint thickness measurements using Magnetic Resonance, Eddy Current and Ultrasonic gauges.
  • The “Polish/Don’t Polish” decision.
  • Using Dual Action, Forced Drive and Rotary machines, matching compounds and pads to the defect.
  •  Techniques for panel edges, contours and delicate areas
  • Finishing techniques.
  • Dressing, Sealant/Wax choices and presentation

Lunch Break:

You’ll have a break to rest, refresh, and enjoy a meal. It’s also an opportunity to ask any questions you may have or interact with fellow participants.

Afternoon:

  1. Paint Correction: You’ll dive deeper into a discussion about paint correction techniques to restore the car’s paintwork and remove imperfections such as swirl marks, scratches, and oxidation. The instructor will explain various tools like dual-action polishers and demonstrate their proper usage
  2. Advanced Techniques: This session covers a discussion of more advanced topics such as applying ceramic coatings, paint protection films, and headlight restoration. You’ll learn about their benefits, application methods, and how they contribute to long-term vehicle protection.
  3. Q&A and Recap: Towards the end of the day, the instructor will address any remaining questions you might have. They’ll also recap the key concepts covered throughout the course.

Wrap Up:
At the end of the day, you’ll receive a certificate of completion for the car detailing course. Additionally, you’ll have gained valuable knowledge and hands-on experience in car detailing, enabling you to confidently maintain and enhance the appearance of your own vehicle or pursue a career in the field.
