Professional Exterior Car Wash

More Info

1. Introduction An overview of professional exterior car washing and decontamination, emphasising the importance of safe washing techniques in preserving modern automotive paintwork. With today's vehicles often featuring thinner paint finishes, you'll learn why minimising unnecessary physical contact is essential to reducing swirl marks and scratches. The session introduces the principles of professional car washing, paint-safe cleaning and preventative vehicle maintenance.
2. Theory and Knowledge Understanding automotive surfaces and contaminants: You'll learn to identify different types of contamination, including traffic film, road grime, brake dust, tar, iron fallout, insect residue and mineral deposits. Automotive cleaning chemicals: The instructor will explain the differences between alkaline, acidic and pH-neutral cleaning products, their applications, dilution ratios and safe usage. You'll understand how to select the appropriate chemicals for specific contaminants, allowing chemical cleaning to reduce the need for aggressive mechanical contact. Equipment and safety: Learn about pressure washers, foam cannons, wash mitts, microfibre towels, drying equipment, personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe chemical handling procedures.
3. Practical Sessions Vehicle assessment: You'll learn how to inspect exterior surfaces, identify contamination and select the appropriate cleaning methods based on the vehicle's condition. Pre-wash and chemical application: The instructor will demonstrate the correct use of pre-wash chemicals, snow foam and targeted cleaning products to loosen and remove contamination before physical contact. Wheels and tyres: Learn safe wheel cleaning techniques, including the appropriate use of wheel cleaners, iron fallout removers and dedicated brushes. Contact washing: Practise professional hand-washing techniques using suitable wash media, lubrication and controlled washing methods to minimise the risk of scratches and swirl marks. Chemical decontamination: Learn how to identify and safely treat bonded contaminants, including iron particles, tar and mineral deposits, using specialist automotive chemicals. Rinsing and drying: Understand correct pressure washing, thorough rinsing and safe drying techniques to minimise water spotting and unnecessary contact with the paintwork. Final inspection: Assess the vehicle's cleanliness and identify any remaining contamination requiring further treatment.
4. Q&A and Tips Towards the end of the course, the instructor will address questions, provide troubleshooting advice and share professional recommendations for maintaining vehicle exteriors. You'll receive practical guidance on selecting car wash chemicals, maintaining washing equipment, avoiding common washing mistakes and caring for ceramic-coated vehicles.
